Sex Therapy for Individuals &
Couples in Brooklyn

A private, affirming space to explore intimacy, desire, and connection with therapists who specialize in sexual health and wellness.

About Sex Therapy

You don't have to navigate this alone

Sex therapy is a specialized, talk based form of psychotherapy focused on sexual concerns and intimacy challenges. At Therapy Brooklyn, our licensed sex therapists create a non-judgmental, confidential space where you can openly discuss what's affecting your sexual wellbeing, whether you're coming alone or with a partner.

Sessions do not involve physical exams or nudity. Sex therapy is conversation based, often incorporating mindfulness practices, communication strategies, and evidence-based approaches like Sensate Focus and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).

"Sexual health is an integral part of overall wellbeing. Seeking support is a courageous step toward the intimacy and connection you deserve."

Our Approach

What to expect in sex therapy

Our therapists are licensed mental health professionals with advanced training in sexual health. We meet you where you are with warmth, expertise, and zero judgment.

  • We start with a brief phone or video call to understand your concerns and ensure we're the right fit for your needs.

  • Your therapist will take a thorough sexual and relationship history to understand the full picture — your background, goals, and what you hope to achieve.

  • Together, you'll develop a personalized plan drawing from evidence-based modalities including CBT, mindfulness, Sensate Focus, and psychoeducation.

  • Weekly or biweekly sessions in-person in Brooklyn or via telehealth across New York State, with between-session exercises as appropriate.

  • Absolutely not. Sex therapy is strictly talk-based psychotherapy. Sessions involve discussion, reflection, and sometimes guided exercises you can practice privately at home. There is no physical contact between therapist and client — ever.

  • Ideally yes, as many sexual concerns are relational. However, we also work with individuals whose partners are unwilling or unable to attend, and individual sessions can still create meaningful change in the relationship dynamic.

  • Duration varies by concern and individual. We'll give you a realistic estimate early in treatment.
