Couples Therapy
Why Couples Therapy?
Couples therapy is for a couple at any stage of their partnership. Couples often seek couples therapy when a major event, crisis or transition happens, this can be preparing for a move, new baby, healing from a breach of trust. However, couples therapy is effective for couples that are newer to their relationship and would like support with creating more understanding and building a solid foundation for the future. It can also benefit couples in long term partnership who are looking to rekindle their connection.
We specialize in working with couples in the following areas:
Communication
Intimacy
Infidelity
Life events (loss of a job, arrival of a new baby)
Considering ending partnership
Our Methodology
We use a relational approach in order to gain an understanding of what is not working within the partnership, this includes an exploration of context, culture, and family history . We make space for each partner to feel heard in the room. We specialize in working with couples that have issues with communication, intimacy, infidelity, life events (loss of a job, arrival of a new baby) and those considering whether to end their marriage or partnership. We believe that change can occur with insight and action, therefore we take time to explore and understand what is not working while also taking an active approach by assigning homework. Homework helps strengthen techniques practiced in session and progression toward goals.
