Isidora Mae Torres, Clinical Intern
Isidora believes that healing is fundamentally relational – she believes that our relationships, whether short-term or long, romantic or familial, are all conduits to our ever-growing transformation as human beings.
Isidora uses an integrative therapeutic approach, blending psychodynamic, humanistic, and attachment-based practices. She believes in approaching therapy through deep introspection by assessing our past and presents to recognize, grow, and/or unlearn life patterns. She aims to work with you to make sense of or connect the “stuff” in our lives. Isidora aims to create spaces grounded in empathy, kindness, and hope (with a dash of humor!).
As a daughter of Filipino immigrants, Isidora greatly emphasizes understanding family dynamics and how they inform generational patterns. She has published work on her exploration as a Filipino-American within American culture and the impact of acculturation on identity.
As a People Operations and Culture expert, Isidora has developed a genuine interest in the intersection of emotion and work, expanding on her findings about the cultural and emotional landscape of the workplace in her book, Working With Feelings: Caring For Your Employees Through Cultural Humility and Emotional Fluency. She previously held People Operations roles at various startups and advocates for developing soft skills.
Beyond individual work, Isidora is interested in working with couples, integrating learnings from Sue Johnson. She also finds that couples therapy can be a great bridge to building and strengthening work bonds and relationships.
Isidora has two dogs named Lola and Romeo. If she’s not making someone laugh or pretending to be good at Pilates, she’s probably reading. She will always enjoy a 2-piece ChickenJoy with JollySpaghetti at Jollibee. If it matters, she’s a Leo.
Isidora is a Bay Area native based in Brooklyn, New York.
