Sahana Sriram, MHC-LP

Sahana is committed to working with adults from diverse backgrounds that are battling loneliness, depression, trauma, anxiety, and other stressors so that they are able to live, work, and love fully. In addition, Sahana specializes in working with first and second generation immigrants, international students, women of color, and victims of abuse. Sahana thrives in helping her clients navigate the complexities of acculturation, career stressors, identity, transition, and trauma in their pursuit of achievement and fulfillment.

Sahana is an immigrant, south asian, neurodivergent, bisexual woman from India. Along with supporting her clients individually, she works as a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion consultant to drive systemic change at organizations. Prior to her clinical work, she worked as an educator, coach and program leader at  Teach For India supporting underserved communities. Her background and lived experiences lead her to use a social justice and pedagogical lens to treatment that includes art, learning experiences and play.

She believes that ineffective systems, traumas and relationships from our past can cause us to construct defense mechanisms and therefore learning to parent yourself can help you lead and love yourself with authenticity and conviction. Therefore she leverages an internal family systems and psychodynamic approach to therapy.

Sahana has an M.A. and Ed.M in Mental Health Counseling from Columbia University with an Advanced Certificate specialization in Sexuality, Women, Gender and Emotional, Social and Cultural Intelligence in Organizations. She holds a Bachelors in Filmmaking from Symbiosis University, India. Sahana loves hiking, cinema, cooking, dancing and is a better person on the days that she works out.
