Cecile Johnson, LP-MHC

Cecile (she, her, hers), strongly believes in meeting her clients where they are in order to provide an equitable therapeutic process for each client. She takes an integrative, emotion focused approach to her practice going below secondary surface feelings to identify more primary root emotions and fears that guide beliefs and behavior.

She understands that emotions are like waves and supports clients in navigating the ebb and flow of their complex emotions. With a background in individual and couples therapy with a family centered outlook, Cecile prioritizes mending and maintaining healthy relationships and dialogue with self and others. Cecile looks to holistically enhance her clients’ functioning while exploring a client’s inherent value in all areas of life. She values practicality and accountability, and aims to create a receptive, down to earth environment in her sessions. By way of her expressiveness, subtle humor and candor she looks to develop a strong therapeutic alliance with clients to increase a supportive and receptive environment.

Cecile offers individual and couples therapy as well as new and expecting parents and individuals navigating different life transitions. She gained her experience working with individuals, couples, and non-custodial fathers with the Supporting Healthy Relationships and HERO Dads program at Montefiore Hospital in the Bronx. During her time there Cecile provided multi-disciplinary and evidence-based therapies and psychoeducational workshops to aid in positive communication, relationship satisfaction, and conflict management for diverse populations.

Before Cecile started her career in counseling; she worked with New York State’s Early Intervention program where she worked with parents and families to obtain additional resources for young children with developmental delays. In her spare time Cecile explores her interests in music, painting and playing tennis.

Cecile graduated with a B.A. in Psychology from La Salle University, and completed her M.A. in Mental Health Counseling from the City College of New York.
