Swedish Massage: The term "Swedish Massage" refers to a variety of techniques specifically designed to relax muscles by applying pressure to them against deeper muscles and bones, and rubbing in the same direction as the flow of blood returning to the heart. (Relaxation & circulation) Deep Tissue Massage is a massage technique that focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue. It aims to release the chronic patterns of tension in the body through slow strokes and deep finger pressure on the contracted areas, either following or going across the fiber's of the muscles, tendons and fascia. (specific injury, chronic pain) Connective Tissue Massage (CTM) is a dynamic approach to bodywork that releases myofascial restrictions. CTM relieves chronic tension, increases ease of movement, improves posture, and enhances self-awareness. These results are often achieved with remarkable efficiency, providing immediate relief from symptoms without requiring excessive force. (specific) Shiatsu is a Japanese word. It means ‘finger pressure’. A Shiatsu treatment does however incorporate the use not only of finger pressure, but also thumbs, palms, knees, forearms, elbows and feet. Pressure is applied to the areas of energy lines (meridians) to promote good health by 'stimulating the body's energy flow (Ki)'. promoting health and strengthening the body’s own healing abilities. Thai massage: An ancient yoga based massage using point work along the meridians. This technique involves deep stretches with breath and applied pressure point work along the sunlines (meridians) to open the joints ,cleanse the blood and invigorates the body. This technique is performed on the floor with the client fully clothed. Thai massage is perfect for people who practice yoga or any other form of physical activity regularly. It is not for injury work or joint issues. This ancient practice helps the body return to its natural state of well being. Reflexology a form of massage in which pressure is applied to certain parts of the feet and hands in order to promote relaxation and healing elsewhere in the body. A science based on the belief that each part of the body is interconnected through the nervous system to the hands and feet. Stimulating specific reflex points in the feet can bring needed nutrients to poorly functioning areas of the body. This can help restore balance throughout the body. Cupping refers to an ancient Chinese practice in which a cup is applied to the skin and the pressure in the cup is reduced (by using change in heat or by suctioning out air), so that the skin and superficial muscle layer is drawn into and held in the cup with the intention of breaking up stagnation in the energy fields. Zero Balancing is a non-invasive hands-on treatment developed by osteopath and acupuncturist Dr. Fritz Smith in 1973. It evaluates and balances the relationship between the energy fields of the body and its physical structure. By applying gentle pressure with particular attention paid to foundation joints, zero balancing creates clearer, stronger energy fields in the body mind and a balanced energy in the bone and skeletal system, enabling the client to function with a deeper personal strength and harmony. Cranio-sacral Therapy is a gentle and subtle holistic approach to bodywork. It is a method of evaluating and enhancing the movement of the cerebral spinal fluid, which can become restricted through trauma, accidents, and everyday nervous tension. By gently working with the membranes, cranial bones, diaphragms, and fascia, restrictions in the system can be released. Clients will often feel as though they have been stretched from inside out creating room and space for new possibilities both structurally and emotionally. CST enhances the body’s natural healing processes and touches the very core of our being, which can provide the client with both the resources and space to explore their inner landscapes. Polarity Therapy is a healing science based on the living human energy fields. Subtle energies, currents and the chakra system inform these blueprints of our being on physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual levels. Polarity Therapists work with these layers through bodywork, nutrition, and exercise to bring into balance the entire field. It is highly effective for reducing stress and pain, bringing relief from tense muscles, increasing vitality in the organs and glands and bringing peace to the mind. It is an open-ended system that draws from many ancient and modern traditions such as Ayurveda and Reflexology to form a remarkably integrative and powerfully effective healing art.
